January 31, 2019

Green energy campaigners in Canada applauded a precedent-settiing Supreme Court ruling on Thursday which ordered the bankrupt Alberta-based oil and gas company Redwater Energy to clean up its failed wells instead of leaving the task to the public.

Canada: a Force for Good or a Tag-along Bully Nation?

January 29, 2019

Most Canadians think of their country as a force for good in the world, but recent efforts by Justin Trudeau’s government to overthrow Venezuela’s elected government have once again revealed the ugly truth about the Great White North. We are an important partner in imperialism, willing to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, up to and including the use of military force, to benefit the perceived self-interest of our elites.

Canada’s “diversity” imperialism…

January 26, 2019

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his trade union-backed, ostensibly “progressive” Liberal government are playing a key role in the regime-change coup that Washington has launched against Venezuela’s elected president, Nicolás Maduro.

Canada quickly seconded US President Donald Trump’s announcement Wednesday recognizing Juan Guaidó, Venezuela’s self-proclaimed “interim president,” as the country’s head of state.

January 23, 2019

An Angus Reid poll found 58 per cent of Canadians think lack of pipeline capacity is a national crisis. They can be forgiven for this. The company that owns a near monopoly on newspapers in Canada, aided by politicians and fossil fuel interests, has put significant effort into convincing them

Racism in Canada’s Military..

January 22, 2019

Anti-blackness is a significant problem in the Canadian Forces. For decades it was explicit and the institution evidently remains structurally racist.

Students call Tories’ funding changes ‘frustrating,’ ‘terrifying’ and ‘devastating’..

January 21, 2019

Amy Mather doesn’t know what she’ll do now that the province has ended her free tuition.

“It’s terrifying, to be honest,” said the 21-year-old, who’s studying child and youth care. “I’ve been at Ryerson for two years now on free tuition and it’s still very difficult.”

Will 2019 be the year of white backlash in Canada?

January 14, 2019

This is an election year in Canada, federally and in Alberta. Climate change — and what to do or not do about it — will be one unavoidable issue in the campaigns to come. The sniping on that has already started in earnest. The federal Conservative leader stands shoulder-to-shoulder with four provincial premiers promising to resist the carbon tax with all the force they can muster.

But the climate and the environment will not be the only big issue.
